Recently, I was reminded of my childhood when I was shopping on eBuffet.com’s online store. When I was a young girl, my father had built me a custom Victorian-era dollhouse that had all the trappings of any normal home–sans the plumbing and intrafamily drama. It was literally the dollhouse of my dreams and my dreams are always handcrafted out of solid wood, of course. This dollhouse had five rooms: the kitchen, the dining room, the living room, one bedroom and one bathroom. Inside the rooms were tiny little pieces of seating and buffet furniture that my dolls fit in perfectly. My favorite dollhouse room was the kitchen because it had the most furniture in it.
Anyway, while looking for furniture to spruce up my dining room set, I found almost an exact replica of the tiny 2-inch kitchen hutch I had in my dollhouse kitchen on eBuffet’s site. As I remembered it, the mini version was charming with crown-molding and all. I discovered that the real-life, adult-sized version is equally as charming. It’s called the "Country French Hutch" and at a huge 76-inches high, it can probably serve as better storage holder. However, the hardwood material and open shelves proved to bear an uncanny resemblance to the original thumb-sized forebear. Even the intricate detailings on the crown molding matched my childhood kitchen hutch exactly. I knew as I made these connections that I had to purchase this particular kitchen hutch. I simply could not pass the opportunity to play house one more time.
