So I was thinking the other day while doing some Christmas shopping, wondering what it is that I really want this Christmas. I have everything I need, and pretty much everything I want, so when my wife asked me what I wanted the other day, I couldn’t really think of anything. Like most guys, I like the usual suspects: new tools, new toys…and I really like to fix up things around the house. Then it came to me! What I really wanted was some new dining room furniture, because we had been handed down a god awful table and sideboard set from my in-laws years ago. It served its purpose, but I really hated it.
So I told my wife the next day, and surprisingly she said, "I hate it too!" We had just had it for so many years and it wasn’t broken, so we didn’t really think about replacing it. Well this year was the year! I told my wife that I really wanted a new dining room table and chairs, so that we could all really start enjoying the dining room again. We didn’t want to hurt my wife’s parents’ feelings, so we told them that the old set had given way, and since it was a bad break, we decided to replace it altogether. Problem solved! Now I have what I really want for Christmas, and it’s a gift the whole household can enjoy.
